Carve Designs Beach Capri : Slim Summer Style

When summer finally arrived on the west coast in mid-July, it brought with it warm days...and thoughts about cycling.

I'd been trying to ride my bike more often to do errands in town, and had gotten a good system down with pants. Once the heat came, I had a dilemma. Pants were too hot, but most of the skirts I had were either too short or too long. My editor must have read my mind because right about this time I received a package from Carve Designs containing the Ocean Beach Capri.

These sweet, simply designed capri pants hit just below the knee, which means they're short enough to not get caught in my bike chain. They're made out of a comfortable sweatshirt-like material (a French terry that's made mostly of organic cotton, with some Spandex thrown in for stretch) that has enough give to make them easy to cycle in--like an old pair of sweat pants. Still, with the slim style and some decorative embellishments (an embroidered flower on the left leg and a matching flower on the front button) the Ocean Beach Capri is in a class far above sweat pants.

I like the fit of these pants - they ride low, which is comfortable for active pursuits. It also means they fit even after my sushi-making class! I should note here that "sweatshirt-like" may sound hot, but they're not. I've worn them while doing yard work in the sun and felt just fine.

Size: XS-XL

Colors: Java

Fabric: 92 percent organic cotton, 8 percent spandex

Bottom Line: Whether I'm on a beach cruiser or a commuter bike, these capri pants keep me comfortable and cool.--C.W. (July '10)
